Meet Your Counselor
Joanna Wright, LCPC
One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is getting to witness my clients become more fully themselves. I'm constantly moved by the courage and trust it takes to show up, week after week, turning toward pain and heartache in hopes of something more meaningful and connected on the other side. I use a relational approach to therapy because I believe transformative moments are most powerful in the context of a genuine relationship—one where both people engage with authenticity, curiosity, and care. My goal as your counselor is to create a space where all parts of you can show up in their messy, contradicting, disorganized, beautifully human glory and be welcomed home.

My Experience
Curiosity and lifelong learning are core values of mine, both personally and professionally. I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montana State University in 2019. My clinical training over the past few years has predominantly been in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and I have additional training in trauma-informed care, attachment, somatic work, and experiential approaches to healing. I view these trainings as tools that enrich my understanding of how painful experiences can become held in the mind, body, and relationships. Rather than following one specific therapy model, I integrate what fits best for each person, drawing from trauma-informed, relational, and mindfulness-based approaches to support meaningful change.
On a Personal Note...
-
I am from Florida but have tragically lost all my superhuman resistance to the heat and humidity after ten-plus years in Montana.
-
One thing I've maintained from my Florida upbringing is a love of being on the water. Kayaking is my happy place.
-
I love board games and try not to be a gloater when I win (don't fact check this with my friends or family).
-
I am drawn towards the messy, beautifully imperfect side of being human. In books, movies, and life, I'll take character development over plot any day.
-
I bring the best trail snacks (feel free to fact check this one!). Find me in the woods with a full baguette, fancy cheese, and salami.
